For us, architecture is not a stage for our own ego but a matter of responsibility: towards people, place, resources and the world we leave behind. Ethics, integrity and the appropriate use of means matter more to us than formal effects.

We like things that are genuine. Materials should be allowed to show what they are. Construction should remain understandable. The entire world does not need to become an amusement park. Because if everything eventually becomes surface, scenery and artifice, how will children learn to read and understand the environment around them?

We do not see architecture as a form of free art. Our qualification is that of a Diplom-Ingenieur, not an artist. For us, designing therefore also means observing, measuring, calculating, comparing and testing. In the construction industry there is a surprising amount of hearsay, habit and sometimes outright voodoo. We prefer a scientific outlook, experience and decisions that can be justified.

Ultimately, what matters to us is creating buildings and spaces that do not loudly proclaim their authors, but find their place in the world as a matter of course; places that, after a while, feel so naturally right that they might always have belonged there.

Born in 1976. Studied architecture at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz); student assistant at its Institute of Urban Design and Housing; junior architect at BRT (Bothe Richter Teherani) in Hamburg; professional qualification as an architect at IUAV University of Venice (2002).
